ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2019
invites you to celebrate a new production of Lubovitch’s sensational dance
performed by
In Lar Lubovitch’s sensually athletic duet—which first entered the Ailey repertory in 1995 but hasn’t been performed in over a decade—Lubovitch explores the infinite possibilities of partnering, with the dancers’ bodies coming together as if propelled by the lush intensity of Ravel’s "Bolero." When the Lubovitch company premiered the work in 1990, Anna Kisselgoff wrote in The New York Times that it "can only be called a choreographic sensation. It is an extraordinary love duet full of sexual tension. But on another level, the piece is also something very different; a formal exploration of new ways in dance partnering."
The program will also include performances of Divining, Cry and Revelations.
